The traditional visual prosthesis system combines both a camera and a microelectrode array implanted on the visual neural network including retina, optic nerve, and visual cortex.Here, we introduce a new visual prosthesis system in which an artificial retina and optic nerve are demonstrated.The prototype of optic nerve for image transmission is comprised of arrayed PMMA microfibers with both ends connected with two planes, one functioned as retina for light reception and polar blue dunks shirt another attached to visual cortex.The microfibers are drawn from the thin film prepared by PMMA/chlorobenzene solution.

Each micro fiber serves as an optical waveguide for the delivery of a single image pixel.It is demonstrated that with proper tablet buzz lightyear imaging optics, arrayed micro fibers could be lit as discrete light spots in accordance with the input image.Each micro fiber is expected to function as a stimulation unit for optical neural modulation in a visual prosthesis system.
